Man who weighed over 19 stone has shed over a quarter of his body weight - by tweeting his size
A TUBBY dad-of-two lost five stone by setting his scales to tweet his weight to friends and family.
Nineteen stone Jason Wroe was so embarrassed his Twitter followers knew his exact size he decided to act.
The 40-year-old, who struggled with his weight for 10 years, only bought the scales after winning £50 in vouchers.
He said “It was only when I won the vouchers and couldn’t find anything else to buy that my wife Fran persuaded me to go for the scales. It was the kick up the bum I needed.
“The prospect of going into work and having people know you had put weight on wasn’t a great one.” Jason, a housing director from Cardiff, said he had tried dieting in the past but found it difficult. He said: “I’ve always been an egg and chips lover and had one too many takeaways.
“I would try to shed a few pounds here and there but never made a real effort. I would get to the stage where I’d think, ‘I’m going to have a massive splurge.’
“The key to losing for me was partly the fear of everyone knowing how much you weigh – as everyone is conscious of their weight.”
The hi -tech Withings scales connect directly to Jason’s iPhone, logging his weight every time he steps foot on them – before documenting the results on social networking site Twitter.
But Jason hasn’t cut out the fatty foods – just eaten them earlier.
He said: “I started simply eating earlier in the day so I had longer to work off any excess instead of going on some fancy diet.”
Now weighing 13 stone and nine pounds, Jason is enjoying life again.
